Client: User Technology Associates / United States Coast GuardOur Misson:The Coast Guard needed a better way of tracking and accessing information about battery sites around the United States; maps of each site existed in paper form, but were not easily accessible.Our Strategy:DES’ experts designed and quickly implemented a solution: each map was tagged with an individual barcode label. The maps were then scanned, creating individual high-resolution images. The barcode data, meanwhile, was recorded using OCR technology, enabling DES to develop a customized SQL database, integrated with an image viewer. As a result, the Coast Guard was able to more accurately retrieve needed information about its battery sites in a fraction of the time it previously took. mission accomplished. |
